Outreach & Service

I've had a longstanding interest in contributing to high-quality evolution education and to broadening participation in science.

  • While studying abroad during my undergraduate, I conducted an independent research project on views and misconceptions about evolution among residents of Moshi, Tanzania and my publicly available report now has over 400 downloads.
  • At the Kellogg Biological Station, I did a 1.5-year Science Education and Outreach fellowship, which gave me the opportunity to help organize teacher professional development workshops, give guest lectures in high school classrooms, and lead elementary school field trips. During the fellowship, I also contributed to a publication in the Plant Science Bulletin on nature journaling
  • I am pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Community Engagement to become well-versed in best practices for this kind of work.
  • I have worked to improve the Kellogg Biological Station community through my efforts on the Culture and Inclusion Committee. In particular, I led efforts to improve equitable access to equipment and restrooms.
